Summary

Description
English: Stela 1 from La Ameila Shows King Lachan K'awaiil Ajaw Bot dancing on a jaguar. Originally paired with stela 2 from LA Amelia, and flanking the stairs on the south side of the main acropolis, stela 1 is technically a panel, rather than a true stela. He wars the water-lily-snake headdress, a centipede mask and clothing that resembles a ball player's costume. Depiction of a dancing king in ball-player gear suggests a ritual connection between the Mesoamerican ball game and dance.
