English: Half-plate glass negative of South Australian Railways L class locomotive No.39, one of four built by Beyer, Peacock and Company of Manchester, England. It entered service in April 1880 as a side-tank locomotive but was soon afterwards converted to the configuration with tender shown in this photograph. It was condemned in 1931.
