English: Steel shield, blued and gilt, overlayed with gold koftgari and padded with mishru (cotton/silk mix), Lahore, Pakistan around 1830. The shield depicts Sikh leader Maharaja Ranjit Singh, his son Sher Singh and two of his generals; depicted within a border of real and zodiacal animals. Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery collection.
