Summary

Description

Sandstones in the Mississippian of Ohio, USA.

This sandstone outcrop is in a gully in Cuyahoga Gorge, northeastern Ohio. It consists of a succession of fine- to very fine-grained sandstones. What appeared to be hummocky cross-stratification was seen just downstream from here. This is the Sharpsville Sandstone, one of many members in the Lower Mississipian Cuyahoga Formation, a marine siliciclastics unit.
