English: SS Czar (or Царь in Russian) seen in port on the postcard mailed in May 1920. Czar was a Russian American Line ocean liner. She was later known as SS Estonia (1921), SS Pułaski (1930), and SS Empire Penryn (1946). The ship was scrapped in 1949.

A ship can change name and flag state through time, but the IMO number remains the same through the hull's entire lifetime. As a result, it can be useful to identify a ship by using the IMO number.
