English: Royal Thai Army Unit Colours (1949-1979)

The Flags of the Military Divisions B.E. 2505 [1962 AD] This is a tricolor flag with a crown in the top left-hand corner, the identity of the King conveyed by the appropriate ordinal number in yellow. Beneath the crown, from which blue rays of light radiate, are his Majesty's initials – in red outlined in yellow. The outer edges of the flag are trimmed in yellow braid, 2 cms wide. An announcement by the Ministry of Defense, dated December 22, B.E. 2505, issued in line with the Royal Decree of B.E.2479 [1936 AD] concerning flags, specified the materials to be used to embroider the patterns on the flags of the various military units. The pattern was amended only with the accession of King Bhumibol with the replacement of the previous monarch's cypher with a new cypher in 1949. This changed was confirm in the Act of 1962.

The military flag currently in use – the ChaiChalermpol Flag – follows the pattern specified in a special Royal Decree of B.E.2522 [1979 AD] concerning flags.FOTW

ไทย: ธงประจำกองทหารบก ตามมาตรา 11 ข้อ 1 แห่งพระราชบัญญัติธง พุทธศักราช 2479 มีลักษณะดังนี้

ธงประจำกองทหารบก มีลักษณะและสัณฐานอย่างเดียวกับธงชาติ แต่ที่ศูนย์กลางธงมีรูปอุณาโลมทหารบก ธงนี้เรียกอีกอย่างหนึ่งว่า "ธงไชยเฉลิมพล"

ลักษณะของธงนี้ได้บัญญัติเพิ่มเติมให้ชัดเจนขึ้นในกฎกระทรวงกลาโหม ออกตามความใน พระราชบัญญัติธง พุทธศักราช 2479 กำหนดลวดลายลักษณะส่วนประกอบธงประจำกองทหารบก ดังนี้

ยอดคันธง เป็นซุ้มเรือนแก้ว ประดิษฐานพระพุทธรูปภายใน ทำด้วยโลหะสีเหลือง
ใต้ฐานซุ้มชิดกับมุมบนของธงด้านเสา มีแถบธงชาติเป็นโบหูกระต่ายห้อยชายทั้งสองข้าง มีส่วนยาวเลยมุมธงด้านล่าง ชายแถบทั้งสองเป็นครุย
พื้นธงมุมบนด้านคันธง มีพระมหามงกุฎและเลขหมายประจำรัชกาลสีเหลือง ภายใต้มีอักษรพระปรมาภิไธยย่อสีแดง ขลิบริบสีเหลือง รัศมีสีฟ้า
กึ่งกลางธงมีรูปเหมือนตราหน้าหมวกทหารบกสีเหลือง แต่ส่วนที่เป็นรูปจักรสีขาว ลายจักรสีเหลือง ช่องระหว่างซี่จักร อักษร ตลอดจนเครื่องหมายขึ้นระหว่าง “สละชีพ” กับ “เพื่อชาติ” และพื้นอุณาโลมสีแดง กับแจ้งนามกองทหารด้วยอักษรสีแดง ขลิบริมสีเหลือง เป็นแถวโค้งโอบใต้รูปดังกล่าว
รอบคันธง ตอนที่ตรงกับแถบธง เป็นสีแดงรอบคันธง ริมชายธงด้านชิดเสาเป็นเกลียวเชือกแดงสลับดำ ส่วนริมชายธงด้านอื่น ๆ เป็นแถบสีเหลืองแกมเขียว กว้าง 2 เซนติเมตร

รายละเอียดของส่วนประกอบได้มีการแก้ไขเพิ่มเติมอีกครั้งในกฎกระทรวงกลาโหม ฉบับที่ 2 (พ.ศ. 2505) ออกตามความในพระราชบัญญัติธง พุทธศักราช 2479 ว่าด้วยวัตถุที่ทำเป็นลวดลายในพื้นธงและส่วนประกอบธงประจำกองทหาร ดังนี้

ยอดคันธง เป็นซุ้มเรือนแก้ว ประดิษฐานพระพุทธรูปภายใน ทำด้วยโลหะสีทอง
คันธง ระหว่างซุ้มเรือนแก้วกับมุมบนของธง มีแถบธงชาติผูกเป็นโบหูกระต่ายห้อยชายทั้งสองยาวเลยมุมธงด้านล่าง ปลายชายแถบทั้งสองเป็นครุย
พื้นธงมุมบนด้านคันธง มีพระมหามงกุฎและเลขหมายรัชกาลสีเหลือง ภายใต้มีอักษรพระปรมาภิไธยย่อสีแดง ขลิบริบสีเหลือง รัศมีสีฟ้า
พื้นธงมีนามกองทหาร อักษรย่อสีแดง ขลิบริมสีเหลือง เป็นแถวโค้ง โอบใต้รูปอุณาโลมทหารบก
คันธงตอนที่ตรงกับธง มีสักหลาดสีแดงต่อกับริมธงหุ้มรอบคันธง มีหมุดทำด้วยโลหะสีทอง 2 หมุด หมุดที่ 1 เป็นรูปประเทศไทย หมุดที่สองเป็นรูปเสมาธรรมจักร หมุดที่สามเป็นรูปพระปรมาภิไธยย่อ หมุดที่สี่เป็นรูปรัฐธรรมนูญ หมุดต่อไปเป็นรูปเครื่องหมายกองทัพบก หมุดที่ 1 อยู่บนสุด หมุดต่อไปเรียงลงมาตามลำดับ
- ริมธงด้านชิดคันธงมีเกลียวเชือกสีแดงสลับดำ ด้านอื่นมีแถบสีเหลือง กว้าง 2 เซนติเมตร

ทั้งนี้ให้มีส่วนและขนาดพองาม

ปัจจุบันแบบธงข้างต้นยังคงมีใช้อยู่ในบางหน่วย โดยอาศัยอำนาจตามบทเฉพาะกาลในพระราชบัญญัติธง พุทธศักราช 2522 มาตรา 55 และ 56 ซึ่งมีเนื้อความดังนี้

มาตรา 55 ธงชัยเฉลิมพลหรือธงประจำกองทหารบก ธงประจำกองทหารเรือและธงประจำกองทหารอากาศ ที่ใช้อยู่ก่อนวันที่พระราชบัญญัตินี้ใช้บังคับ ให้ถือว่าเป็นธงชัยเฉลิมพลตามพระราชบัญญัตินี้ จนกว่าจะได้รับพระราชทานธงชัยเฉลิมพลใหม่
มาตรา 56 ในระหว่างที่ยังมิได้ออกกฎกระทรวงหรือประกาศตามพระราชบัญญัตินี้ ให้บรรดากฎกระทรวงและประกาศที่ได้ออกตามพระราชบัญญัติธง พุทธศักราช 2479 และใช้บังคับอยู่ก่อนวันที่พระราชบัญญัตินี้ใช้บังคับ คงใช้บังคับได้ต่อไปเท่าที่ไม่ขัดหรือแย้งกับบทแห่งพระราชบัญญัตินี้
