Summary

Description
English: Specimen of Rondeletia loricata currently held in the Discovery Collections at the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton. Specimen was likely collected in the 1990s from mesopelagic waters off the coast of North-West Africa and has been preserved in formaldehyde since collection. The specimen is nearly intact (save for superficial damage to the tips of the median fins. The strange lateral line system, composed of ~16 vertical rows of pores, is easily visible, as is the small eye that also distinguishes this from the other known species of Rondeletia, R. bicolor.
