Description Arms of Rolls family of The Hendre, near Monmouth: Or, on a fesse dancettée with plain cotises between three billets sable each charged with a lion rampant of the field as many bezants (Burke's General Armory, 1884, p.868; motto: Celeritas et Veritas), difference of Rolle of Stevenstone, Devon (Baron Rolle). The Rolls family of Monmouth derived from John Rolls (1735–1801), son of Aaron and Elizabeth Rolls, the Grange, Bermondsey, and of the Hendre, Monmouthshire, High Sheriff of Monmouthshire in 1794. John Allan Rolls, 1st Baron Llangattock (1837–1912) had sons including w:Charles Stewart Rolls (1877–1910) the co-founder of the Rolls-Royce company.
