Summary

Description
English: In August 1942, World Jewish Congress delegate Gerhart Riegner sent a telegram to US officials at the State Department warning of intelligence he had received of a Nazi plan for the murder of all of Europe's Jews. He asked that this information be passed to Rabbi Stephen Wise. When the State Department declined to inform Wise, Gerhart sent this second cable to Wise personally. This cable eventually led to the first public announcements that the systematic slaughter of Europe's Jews was happening under the Nazi regime.
