The Ludwig Super Classic kit in “'Oyster Black
Pearl” finish holds the record for the
best-selling drum set in company history.

This was the style and finish of choice of Ringo Starr.
After The Beatles ' 1964 Ed Sullivan Show appearance,
Ludwig was forced to add an extra factory shift to
meet the demand of young drummers, who wanted
to play on the same drum set as Ringo.

Jerry Shirley (Humble Pie) cocked his Ludwig drums
while seated on this throne. He wrote about his
experiences behind the drums in the book, “The Best
Seat in the House.”

Shirley later told the throne to Tony Machine who
used it during his time with Buster Poindexter.
