Rough summary of "returning" editors on the English Wikipedia after 1 month as estimated by the fraction of active editors in each month that were also active in the previous month. This is based on data from http://stats.wikimedia.org/EN/TablesWikipediaEN.htm, and simply calculates:
Actual user histories were not tracked, so some portion of the editors active in month X may have been active in the past but not actually active in the prior month. In a few cases, large numbers of apparent returns from more than one month in the past cause the 1-month return fraction to exceed 100%. For most of Wikipedia's history, this 1-month active editor return fraction has been about 80%. |
