English: This pottery bowl has a small foot, globular hole mouth, and incurved rim. On the exterior, there is a black-painted decoration on a red slip. Possibly from Cheshmeh Ali (so-called Cheshmeh Ali ware), northern Iran. 5500-4500 BCE. British Museum. In modern southern Iran, bold geometric designs on pale backgrounds dominated while in the north, dark red backgrounds were preferred.
