sprudnik ubojica Opis vrste D.t. 29–32 cm (mužjak), 54–60 cm (ženka). Gnezdi se u severnoj Evropi i severnoj Aziji. Tokom seobe prisutan je i u drugim delovima evroazijskog kontinenta, a zimuje u Africi, južnoj Aziji i obalama Australije. Gnezdeće stanište su mu močvare i tresave u pojasu i tundre. Van perioda gnežđenja najčešće se zadržava na plitkim i muljevitim jezerima, barama, močvarama, vlažnim livadama ili slatinama, ređe na estuarima, lagunama i priobalnim močvarama. Za mužjake su karakteristične ritualne borbe na tradicionalnim borilištima. Gnezda smešta na tlu, skrivajući ih u mahovinu i prizemnu vegetaciju. Hrani se različitim beskičmenjacima (insektima, paukovima, glistama i dr), malim ribama, punoglavcima i semenjem vodenih biljaka. Evropska populacija je u umerenom opadanju. U Srbiji je prisutan samo tokom seobe.
