DescriptionPembroke Castle, view from the street.jpg
English: In 1093 Roger of Montgomery built the first castle at the site when he fortified the promontory during the Norman invasion of Wales. In 1189 it was given to William Marshal by Richard I. Marshall, who rebuilt Pembroke in stone creating most of the structure that remains today. In the late 13th century, additional buildings were added to the inner ward including a new Great Hall.
