English: AKA AS MOUNTAIN LAKES PRESERVE. IN 1884 AN ICE POND WAS CREATED WITH A SERIES OF DAMS. ICE WAS HARVESTED FROM THE PONDS AND STORED IN BARNS TO BE DELIVERED TO PRINCETON RESIDENTS BEFORE REFRIGERATION. THE STRUCTURES HAVE ALL DISAPPEARED BUT THE DAMS HAVE BEEN RESTORED AND THE AREA IS NOW PRESERVED AS A WALKING AREA. THE MOUNTAIN LAKES HOUSE WAS BUILT IN 1950 WHERE SOME OF THE STRUCTURES ONCE STOOD. IT IS THE ONLY STRUCTURE WITHIN THE HISTORIC SITE. IT IS NOW USED AS A VENUE FOR WEDDING RECEPTIONS.
THE PICTURE IN THE NATIONAL REGISTRY LISTING PRESENTLY IN ONE OF THE RANDOMLY SCATTERED TRAIL SIGNS. IT DOES NOT REFLECT THE HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE OF THE SITE WHICH IS BETTER REPRESENTED BY THE MOUNTAIN LAKES HOUSE WHICH IS LOCATED ON THE SITE OF THE ICE COMPANY STRUCTURES AND OVERLOOKS THE LAKE AND DAM
