English: This is an image of a 1865 map by the Ordnance Survey, under the directorship of Henry James (Ordnance Survey)(1803-1877) of the city of Southampton. In it you can see in the lower left hand quarter the buildings that made up the Ordnance Survey Offices of this period including the building known as the glasshouse, home of the photography department. This is the oddly shaped building on the left hand side about midway up, which looks blue due the map makers attempt to portray glass This copy is courtesy of the Southampton Archive Services who hold the original
