EDWARD ARTHLR I-ELLOWES PRVNNE Artist. He was educated at Eastmans Royal NavalAcademy, Southsea, being originally intended for a navalcareer. At the suggestion of the late Lord I.eighton hestudied art, receiving his art education in London, .-\ntwerp,Paris, and Ilorence. He was elected R.H..-\. in iNcjs Heh.is exhibited at many important galleries and exhibitions,including the Royal .-Vcademy, Grosvenor, and New(l.illcries, and at lirussels, Dusseldorf, etc. He has beenengaged much in portrait painting, etc., but he specialisesin religious subjects of semi-prc-Raphaelite character.He has prepared many designs for stained glass windows,sculpture and mosaics for ninnerous churches in Londonand the provinces ; also many large mural paintings andaltarpieces. STEPIILN Ki:iD, K.B.A. Mr. Reid was educated at Gordons College, Aberdeen,taking up his art studies at Grays School of Art. .Aberdeen,and at the Royal Scottish .Academy Life School, Edinburgh.His works have been exhibited at all the principal galleriesincluding the R.H.A.. the R.A., the R.S.A., and the R.I.,and at most of the imp rtmt provincial exhibitions. .Amongthe more notable of his pictures are Ophelia (1914), andMacbeth (iqiS), and a series of historical picturesexecuted for the Reading Corporation Art Gallery shouldalso be mentioned. Mr. Reid is also well-known for hisexcellent work as illustrator in black and white.
