Summary

English: Naval battle and attack of the Swedish fleet, consisting of 22 warships, 4 frigates, 2 fire ships, and 2 other ships under the command of Grand Admiral Duke of Södermanland, on 30 April/13 May (!) 1790, against the Russian's 10 warships and 1 frigate of the Reval (Tallinn) fleet under the command of Admiral Tschitschagow. The Swedish warship Prince Karl with 64 cannons was captured, and during the retreat the Swedish warship Retwoisan with 64 cannons ran aground on a sandbank and was set on fire. The victory was thus ceded to the Russian fleet.
Deutsch: Seeschlacht und Angrif der Königl schwedischen aus 22 Kriegsschiffen, 4 Fregaten, 2 Brandern, und 2 Fahrzeugen unter comando des gross-Admirals Herzog von Sudermanland bestehenden Flotte am 30 April /13 May (!) 1790 gegen die Kaisl russ aus 10 Kriegsschiffen und 1 Fregate an der revalischen Rhede befindlichen Flotte unter comando des Admirals Tschitschagow wo das schwed Kriegs-Schif Prinz Karl von 64 Kanonen erobert, und bei dem Rückzug an der Insel Rif das Schwed Kriegs-Schif Retwoisan von 64 Kanonen auf die Sandbank gerith, in Brand gesteckt, und der Kaisl russ Flotte der Sieg überlassen werden muste. |
