DescriptionNEW JERSEY MANUAL TRAINING AND INDUSTRIAL SCHOOL FOR COLORED YOUTH.jpg
English: Founded in 1886 by Reverend Raymond Rice, a former slave. It taught manual training to girls and boys and got them trained for self supporting jobs. Lecturers included Albert Einstein and Paul Robeson among others. It closed in 1955 because of failure to attract white students and thus was a segregated school. It is now run by the state as correctional institute. The building pictured is the administration building.
