Summary

Already released as public material by the Turkish Armed Forces web site, the photograph is public internationally by having been published in early 1923. For the categorization, I opted for ‘Latife Hanım’ (Lady Latife), instead of ‘Latife Uşşaki’, by the surname she took in 1928, after her divorce, and under which the wikipedia article on her is titled, because, i) she is better known as ‘Latife Hanım’ in Turkey, ii) a film based on her biography is titled ‘Latife Hanım’, ii) Two residences that belonged to her family in en:İzmir are called ‘Latife Hanım mansions’. The category denomination chosen will enable the entire material on these to be included under a single heading.

This work is in the public domain in Turkey because it has been expropriated as national heritage or its copyright has expired. Article 27 of the Turkish copyright law states: The protection period continues during the lifetime of the author of the work and for 70 years after his death.
