Summary

Description
English: Mt. Athabasca as seen from Wilcox Pass near the base of Mt. Wilcox. The normal route is up the glacier in its middle and up to the col right of Silverhorn (in the bright sunlight), and around the backside of Silverhorn and thence on the ridge to the summit. The Silverhorn route leads directly up from its base, along the shadow/sun line to Silverhorn's summit. As the Climber's Guide notes:
  • "A magnificent peak 4 km SW of Sunwapta Pass, from which the 1898 party discovered the Columbia Icefield. Justly popular and very accessible, it is probably the most-climbed major peak in the Canadian Rockies."[1]
