Summary

Description
English: Another view of the MAR-I radar system built at White Sands Missile Range in the mid-1960s. In this image, taken from in front of the north-facing antenna, protective covers have been slid up over the antenna elements, riding upward on the dark-colored rails from their underground storage. The fencing in the foreground prevents stray signals from the transmitter being received on the receiver behind it. A similar fence on the top of the central dome does the same for the Nike Hercules target radar placed there, which was used to calibrate range measurements by the MAR during testing.
