Request letter:

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am an editor of the free encyclopedia "Wikipedia" and we would be interested in using an image from your "Antike Welten: Meisterwerke griechischer Malerei" catalog, published in 1997 to accompany the exhibition in the Museum der Pfaltz Speyer of November 1997 through April 1998.

Specifically, this is the calyx krater on page 111, Inv.-Nr. IV 1102 (Liebesgabe, by the Aigisthos-Maler. The picture would need to be placed in the public domain, as that is the requirement of the project.

We do not need any photographs or transparencies, we can simply use the picture printed in the catalog. If you are able to grant free permission for this volunteer project that would be greatly appreciated, but if you need to be paid for the rights that would be understandable and I would be willing to take care of that from my personal funds.

I thank you in advance for your consideration,

The museum response:

Dear [my name omitted],

herewith we grant you permission free of charge to use the above mentioned image as requested. Please use as credit line: "Kunsthistorisches Museum, Wien"

Yours sincerely,
