Paul Andreas Kaald was one of the most successful Norwegian privateers during the Napoleonic Wars. He was active on several ships between 1808 - 1814 and was imprisoned in Edinburgh for two years. In 1813 he collected several prizes with the ship Anna Bruun, making him a wealthy man.
