Description
English: Maj. John F. Bolt with F-86, 1953:Major John F. Bolt, stands atop the cockpit of his F-86 Sabre jet in Korea in 1953. Joining a handful of naval aviators--notably future astronauts John H. Glenn, Jr. and Wally Schirra--in flying on exchange duty with the U.S. Air Force, Bolt shot down five enemy MiG-15 jets during May-July 1953. In so doing, he became naval aviation's first jet ace.
