Summary

Description
English: The building was commissioned by founding resident Colonel Harbine in 1875. Jenkins Dry Goods was soon established in 1879, and continued to operate as such for several decades. This is the most intact of the first generation buildings in downtown Fairbury, having retained the original Italianate features. The second floor was later used as a hall for the Knights of Pythias. Other original features include the beadboard ceiling beneath the acoustic ceiling, second level trim work, and soft brick and sandstone facade. Note the false front building to the left.
