Mariman en fam. van de Walle Van 1931 tot 1954 fam. van Helsland De molen is tot in de jaren '30 in bedrijf geweest, zij het de laatste jaren met een gasmotor. Na 1940 raakte de molen zwaar in verval. In 1944 werd de stelling (omloop) gesloopt. Tot overmaat van ramp sloeg in 1954 de bliksem in en brak er brand uit. Dankzij de inzet van het toenmalige gemeentebestuur kon de molen in 1956 worden gerestaureerd. Door deze restauratie werd de molen uitwendig weer in oude glorie hersteld. Bij deze restauratie kreeg de molen de naam "Stadsmolen". Hij was immers eigendom van de stad. In 1976 besloot de Gemeenteraad om de molen, waaraan zich enkele ernstige gebreken hadden geopenbaard, te laten restaureren. Deze restauratie werd in 1979 afgerond. Sinds 1984 wordt aan de Stadsmolen jaarlijks onderhoud gepleegd. In 1992 werden opnieuw enige restauratiewerkzaamheden uitgevoerd.
