Summary

Description
English: Street scene -- King William Street, Adelaide, circa 1885. Taken from the corner of Hindley Street and King William Street, looking south, it shows horse drawn-cabs waiting in the street and three horse trams on tracks down the middle. The building with a sign "J.G. Rowell" is on the corner of Grenfell Street. In the distance is the tower of the Adelaide town hall. (The two white lines leading from the bottom left corner of the image have been drawn in to represent tram tracks, but the dark strips over which they are drawn are a wet road surface left by water carts used to suppress dust; the second track is seen between the trams and the shops.)
