Notes The attribution to Jan van Hemessen was based on a print by Joseph Anton Prenner who depicted the painting among other pictures from the gallery of Emperor Charles VI in Vienna and inscribed JOANN. HEMESEN PINXIT. The painting is considered as one of the artist's finest of artist's works possibly influenced by works of Leonardo and Raphael and painted after his visit to Italy.
