Description

This is a memorial plaque commemorating the disaster that befell the Gorleston lifeboat, Rescuer, in 1867. She was hit by another vessel whilst returning to harbour following a rescue. She capsized and six of her crew along with nineteen other people drowned.

The plaque is on display in the Tide & Time Museum in Great Yarmouth and a photo of the item was taken in 2017 on the Maritime Festival day.
