Description
English: Broadside on Gampar, a mythical Germanic king and patriarch. He is depicted here standing on a grassy patch wearing plated armour. He wears a long beard, and stands between a sheaf of wheat and a rock on which rests his plumed helmet. The scene is a hand-cloured woodcut by Nikolaus Stör, bounded by a columns and other architectural elements illustrated by Peter Flötner. The legend below is a letterpress verse by Burkhard Waldis. One print in a series of 12 broadsides on early Germanic kings.
