Description
English: The French aircraft carrier Bois Belleau (R97), recently transferred from the U.S. Navy, steams down Hampton Roads on 9 December 1953, toward her Norfolk Naval Base berth where she loaded 16 torpedo bombers and two helicopters. She left two days later for Toulon, France. Among the ships in the background are the battleship USS New Jersey (BB-62), the heavy cruiser USS Albany (CA-123) and the dock landing ship USS Casa Grande (LSD-13).
