DescriptionFortune of War Hotel - The Rocks NSW (12865635455).jpg
Fortune of War Hotel - The Rocks NSW. The current building was erected in 1921, but the name dates to a previous building, and the licence dates to 1828. There is evidence that the Fortune of War was operating as a public house prior to the issue of the licence. It is claimed to be the oldest continually licenced pub in Sydney. When liquor licences became compulsory in 1830 the Fortune of War was granted licence number 1.
