Summary edit

Der Herr G'freite.WWI-era postcard art.Wittig collection.item 50.obverse.scan.jpg. A younger Austrian soldier stands at attention before a sergeant. The sergeant has a rounded object impaled on his downward-facing rifle-bayonet; possibly it is a deflated sports-ball. Silhouetted figures in black, against a simplified/stylised background; a comic-drawing, somewhat "modern" in style. Watercolour & ink(?) drawing on paper, drawn on what appears to be a printed "POSTKARTE" blank. Artwork of front is unsigned. Back has addressing information & inscription, in 2 different colours/writing materials. Postally used in 1918(?); postage stamp is green 5 Heller Franz Josef bust, K.K. Osterr. Post; top-right on the back of the postcard; with cancellation postmark for "KREMS an der DONAU"dated as "13.IV.18(?)". with the "18" being slightly unclear/uncertain . Created in 1918(?). More information would be appreciated; feel free to transcribe/translate. Wittig collection, item 50; private collection, fam. Wittig et cie.

Created in 1918 (or at least certainly well pre-1920); therefore obviously pre-1923; uploaded here to avoid Commons' "dual jurisdiction" PD rule.

Please do not transfer to WMC unless you can confirm the item's PD-status as per Commons' requirements.
