InfoField
English: The historical of Bars county.
Magyar: Bars vármegye címere kerek talpú pajzs, melynek mezejét hullámos jobb haránt pólya osztja két részre. A bal felső mezőben egy, a jobb alsó mezőben két, egytornyos templom lebeg. A pajzsra nyitott levélkoronát helyeztek, amelyből egy tőr függ a címerpajzsba, hegyével felfelé. A korona fölött pántos sisak látható, nyakékkel. A sisakkoronán – amely csak méretében különbözik a pajzsra helyezett koronától – balra néző, kiterjesztett szárnyú sas áll, nyelvét kiöltve. A címerpajzsot jobbról és balról egyaránt sisaktakaró díszíti.

Object history
Magyar: ltételezhető, hogy Bars vármegye területén a 11–12. században comitatus jött létre, Barsvár központtal. A vármegye városai – Bars, Körmöcbánya, Újbánya, Léva – sokszor országos jelentőségű történések színterei voltak. Bars vármegye címeres pecsétjét I. Ferdinánd, majd I. Lipót adományozta. V. Ferdinánd megerősítette 1846-ban, és az addigi latin körirat helyett magyar nyelvű köriratot engedélyezett: BARS VÁRMEGYE PECSÉTJE. 1846.

This file depicts the official coat of arms or flag of a Hungarian municipality. According to 1.§ (4) of the Hungarian copyright law (1999./LXXVI.), copyright protection does not cover "legal provisions, other means of state direction, court and other official resolutions, announcements and documents issued by an authority or other official organ, as well as standards made obligatory by law and other similar regulations." Official coat of arms and flags, being defined in such a regulation, are thus in the public domain in Hungary, and also in the US, according to § 313.6(C)(2) Compendium of U.S. Copyright Office Practices, 3rd ed. 2014 (Compendium (Third)): "As a matter of longstanding public policy, the U.S. Copyright Office will not register a government edict that has been issued by any state, local, or territorial government, including legislative enactments, judicial decisions, administrative rulings, public ordinances, or similar types of official legal materials. Likewise, the Office will not register a government edict issued by any foreign government or any translation prepared by a government employee acting within the course of his or her official duties."

Note: The usage of coats of arms and flags is governed by legal restrictions, independent of the copyright status of the depiction shown here.

Public domain

This work is in the public domain in its country of origin and other countries and areas where the copyright term is the author's life plus 70 years or fewer.

Copyright may extend on works created by French who died for France in World War II (more information), Russians who served in the Eastern Front of World War II (known as the Great Patriotic War in Russia) and posthumously rehabilitated victims of Soviet repressions (more information).

Insignia This image shows a flag, a coat of arms, a seal or some other official insignia. The use of such symbols is restricted in many countries. These restrictions are independent of the copyright status.
