Summary

Description
English: Church detail, Castle Acre Priory The inner walls of the west end of the priory church still display some of the decorated arches and columns dating back to the 12th century. The Cluniac order were noted for the use of decoration in their buildings, which contrasts with the much simpler styles of architecture employed by the Cistercians. The priory was founded around 1090 following a visit to Cluny in France by local baron William de Warenne.
