An impressionist landscape of a street scene of war ruins in winter; with snow & ice, mud & reflections in water. Chevincourt (during the winter of 1916-1917?). Miniature painting, watercolours(?); painted on a standard, printed 'The Comité des Étudiants Américains de l'École des Beaux-Arts Paris guarantee the authenticity of this post card', post-card blank. Signed 'Alexandre Bertin' on front. Full front caption reads as follows: '(first letter is unclear, possibly)R(?)uines de La Guerre = Chev(unclear letter?)ncourt - Alexandre Bertin'. Back with only the handwritten number '21221' added (@ bottom centre) to the standard printed design & text. Based on the postcard number & the season depicted, this is probably from/circa the winter of 1916-1917. More information about the artist would be appreciated. Wittig collection, item 39; private collection, fam. Wittig et cie.

Created during WWI, therefore obviously pre-1923; uploaded here to avoid Commons' "dual jurisdiction" PD rule.
