English: The flagship Venerable is seen firing a last broadside against the Vrijheid, with the latter striking her flag, though de Loutherbourg is less concerned with documentation than with dramatic effect and the Sublime or, in his words, "the horror and devastation attendant upon a conflict disputed with such obstinate bravery".
