Summary

Description
English: Bosley Lock No 3, Macclesfield Canal, Cheshire The empty lock has dropped the water level by about ten feet (3 metres). The Bosley Locks, designed by Thomas Telford, are constructed of hewn stone rather than the more usual bricks. All the top gates, as seen here, are highly unusual in that a pair of mitre gates are used instead of the normal single top gate fitted to narrow canal locks.
