This crayfish that occurs in parts of Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi was under evaluation for possible listing as a threatened or endangered species. Thanks to research funded by the USFWS, it has been determined that this species does not need to be protected under the Endangered Species Act. This type of proactive research saves taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars!
