Summary

Description
English: Ex-Lancashire & Yorkshire 0-8-0 at Bank Hall Locomotive Depot.

See also SJ3493 : Bank Hall Locomotive Depot in 1948: two ex-Lancashire & Yorkshire engines. No. 12782 is one of the survivors of a once numerous class of L&Y Aspinall Class 30 0-8-0s dating from 1901; it was withdrawn in 9/50, almost the last of its Class. Bank Hall Shed in Bootle was a haven of ancient L&Y locomotives in 1948.

12782 here was built not by Aspinall, but as 114 by Hoy in 1903, as the batch with his experimental corrugated steel firebox. It was later rebuilt with Hughes' large boiler.
