Summary

Description
English: The antenna field at BBC Far Eastern Relay Station used many of these switches to assign antennas to different 'senders' and also to connect the antennas in phasing arrangements that slewed the radiated beam towards different directions. The vertical rod with a rubber corrugated boot slides up and down under hydraulic power, lifting the contacts mounted on brown porcelain insulators to make or break knife switches that connected and disconnected the feed lines.
