Summary

The Awakino Gorge tunnel, SH3, New Zealand - an unlined single-lane tunnel approximately 50 metres long. According to maori legend, the rock promontory that the tunnel pierces is the remains of the en:Tainui waka. Photographed by Richard Grevers, February 2005
