English: Matches on aerogel, with a flame underneath. A demonstration of aerogel's insulation properties. The wooden matches in the foreground are of the double-dip, strike-anywhere kind, also called birdeyes, with an autoignition temperature around 120 °C. The safety matches behind ignite at 180–200 °C
Deutsch: Streichhölzer auf Aerogel, darunter eine Flamme. Der Versuchsaufbau veranschaulicht die Isolationseigenschaften von Aerogel. Die hölzernen Streichhölzer im Vordergrund sind zweimal getauchte Überallzünder, auch Vogelaugen genannt, mit einer Zündtemperatur von etwa 120 °C. Die Sicherheitsstreichhölzer dahinter zünden bei 180–200 °C.
