BIERWIRTH, OBE DEPUTY ADJUTANT AND QUARTERMASTER GENERAL, 1ST AUSTRALIAN CORPS (1), INSPECTING THE REFORMED 2/12TH AUSTRALIAN FIELD AMBULANCE. THE ORIGINAL UNIT SERVED IN DARWIN, IT LOST A COMPANY AT TIMOR AND ANOTHER AT AMBOINA, AND LATER LOST PRACTICALLY THE WHOLE UNIT WHEN THE CENTAUR WAS SUNK BY THE JAPANESE. ALSO SEEN ARE: QX6439 LIEUTENANT COLONEL N. H. MORGAN COMMANDING OFFICER 2/12TH AUSTRALIAN FIELD AMBULANCE (2); NX179 COLONEL E. A. COLEMAN, DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF STAFF AND TRANSPORT 1ST AUSTRALIAN CORPS (3); NX109290 WARRANT OFFICER CLASS 1 G. H. W. FULTON REGIMENTAL SERGEANT MAJOR, 2/12TH AUSTRALIAN FIELD AMBULANCE (4).
