Description

The icon of the Jagannath tradition of Hinduism, likely syncretic as it also incorporates ideas and practices of Buddhism, Jainism, Vaishnavism, Shaivism, Shaktism, tantra and tribal traditions.

The icon is drawn in many variants. The common elements are the black colored circle, two big round eyes, red smile and Urdhva Pundra on the forehead. The petals may be of another color and with symbolic items/attributes.
