The Chrysler Corporation was founded in 1925. In 1928, Chrysler expanded, he established Plymouth and DeSoto brands and also acquired Fargo Trucks and Dodge Brothers Motors and started selling vehicles under those names.
The 1965 Newport (Chryslers base model) was built on an all-new Chrysler C platform, it was available in 2 door hardtop and convertible, 4 door Hardtop, Standard Sedan, Town Sedan and Town and Country Wagon.
The 1966 Newport got a new grille and taillights and some new sheetmetal for 1967.
The new platform was shared with the 300 sport series and high performance 300 letter series, also the upmarket New Yorker
The long wheelbase models were the Imperial Crown and Lebaron.
