Portrait l.", around: "IAC· COOK OCEANI INVESTIGATOR ACERRIMVS (James Cook the most intrepid investigator of the seas) REG· SOC· LOND· SOCIO SVO" (The Royal Society of London to its Fellow). Signed L.P.F. below the bust. / Fortune standing l., and leaning against a column at r. is placing a rudder upon a globe. The British shield at r. Curved above: "NIL INTENTATVM NOSTRI LIQVERE (Our men have left nothing unattempted)". In exergue: "AVSPICIIS GEORGII III (Under the auspices of George III). Eimer 780; Eimer, The Pingo Family 64.
