A slump in Micro's but a boost for Macro's
Not had much time to trap lately, but did give it a go on Thursday night.
About as warm as it could get for a clear night, with temperatures hovering around 12 degrees, and with little wind.
The trap was a little wet so it had clouded up and rained during the night interestingly.
I had an awful time trying to get to the moths before the birds did. In the Spring it was a problem with Great Tits....now it is Magpies and yes they had a bit of a feast, namely with my second garden Eyed Hawk-moth :( you will remember that my first garden specimen got had by an Orb Web Spider.
I also didn't expect Common Footman and Common Wainscot already, and I am still getting good numbers of Nutmegs, in fact beating Heart & Dart again...but not for not much longer I suspect.
Hope to trap again Sunday night where we may get some warmer more settled weather.
