Draft:Kinect Sports (game series)

(Redirected from Draft:Kinect Sports)
  • Comment: Unfortunately this seems to be a non-notable topic. As raised in this discussion, general notability for a video game series is not inherited from its respective works. There needs to be significant coverage about the series as a collective body of work to justify notability. Currently, this is not the case, especially given that the article lacks secondary sources, let alone sources that discuss the series as a whole. I'm not sure if there's a clear pathway to notability here - it really depends on whether there's enough research out there to substantiate a standalone article.  Comment: Hello! Thank you for taking the time to review this article. I just want to confirm something to avoid any confusion. The article Kinect Sports is about the first Kinect Sports game, not the series.

Kinect Sports edit

The first game in the Kinect Sports series was released on November 4, 2010, in North America, November 10, 2010, in Europe, and November 18, 2010, in Australia for the Xbox 360. The game was developed by Rare and published by Microsoft Game Studios.

The sports playable in Kinect Sports are bowling, track and field, association football, beach volleyball, table tennis, and boxing. There is also a Party Mode in which there can be two teams, red and blue, with as many players as you like, represented by one mascot for each team. There are six rounds in total, with the winning team for the round getting 100 points, and the losing team getting 50 points. The final round is a showdown. It is either a boxing match, a beach volleyball match, or a track and field event. The showdown gives 200 and 100 points respectively. The team with the most points at the end.

There are also multiple mini-games for each sport. Bowling mini-games include One Bowl Roll and Pin Rush. Track and field has no mini-games, but all events in the sport can be played in the mini-games section. These include Sprint, Javelin, Long Jump, Discus and Hurdles. Association football mini-games include Super Saver and Target Kick. Beach Volleyball mini-games include Bump Bash and Body Ball. Table tennis mini-games include Paddle Panic and Rally Tally. Boxing is the only sport in the game with no mini-games.[1]

Kinect Sports: Season Two edit

Kinect Sports: Season Two was released on October 25, 2011, in North America, October 27, 2011, in Australia, and October 28, 2011, in Europe for the Xbox 360. The game was developed by Rare and BigPark and published by Microsoft Game Studios.

The sports playable in Kinect Sports: Season Two are baseball, American football, darts, skiing, tennis, and golf. There is also a Quick Play mode, similar to the Party Mode in Kinect Sports. There are two teams, red and blue, each team has a mascot, and there are six games which are randomly selected from the collection of sports and mini-games in the game.

Like Kinect Sports, Kinect Sports: Season Two also has its fair share of mini-games. Tennis having Smash Alley, skiing having Downhill Dodge, baseball having Home Run Hero, golf having Ocean Driver and darts having Pop Darts. American football being the only sport without a mini-game.[2]

Kinect Sports: Ultimate Collection edit

Kinect Sports: Ultimate Collection (also known as Kinect Sports: Double Pack in Europe) is a bundle of two games, Kinect Sports and Kinect Sports: Season Two. The bundle was released on September 18, 2012 worldwide. Kinect Sports: Ultimate Collection was developed by Rare and BigPark and published by Microsoft Game Studios and is available on the Xbox 360. Microsoft Game Studios only made physical copies of the bundle.

The sports playable are same as the ones in both of the original Kinect Sports games which include boxing, baseball, bowling, track and field, association football, beach volleyball, table tennis, American football, darts, skiing, tennis, and golf.

With the bundle, came a physical 25-digit code to the Kinect Sports: Season Two - All Access Pass pack which included more minigames, and a new basketball game mode.

Kinect Sports Rivals edit

Kinect Sports Rivals was released on April 8, 2014, in North America and Australia, and on April 11, 2014, in Europe. The game was developed by Rare and published by Xbox Game Studios and is available on the Xbox One.

The sports playable in Kinect Sports Rivals are bowling, jetski racing, rock climbing, association football, target shooting, and tennis.

Since the Xbox 360 Avatars did not follow along with the Xbox One, when the game starts, the Kinect sensor scans and generates a digital character that looks like the player.
